Departmental Overview The Berkeley School of Education at the University of California is home to a diverse group of students and faculty joined by their common interests in understanding and improving the complex world of education. We are committed to providing and cultivating the very best in educational scholarship, innovation, and professional leadership. The mission of the Leadership Programs is to develop and sustain a diverse community of equity and justice focused teacher, school, and system leaders who transform public education especially for marginalized and historically underserved students. We engage in applied synergistic investigations and the development of innovative practices around this common purpose. The Berkeley School of Education (BSE) is a professional school that offers doctoral degrees with 12 concentrations, master's degrees, master's/credentials programs, and an undergraduate minor degree. In addition to research, the school is highly visible in its international, national, state-wide, and local outreach, professional development, and enrichment programs. The Leadership Programs match the overall scope of the BSE. Its offerings include 1 professional doctorate (EdD), the Principal Leadership Institute (MA + Preliminary Administrative Services Credential), Leadership Support (Clear Administrative Services Credential), the 21CSLA State Center (a grant-funded project of the California Department of Education), 21CSLA Regional Center, 21 CSLA Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK) and other grant and revenue-generated work. The current budget of the Leadership Programs is approximately $5 million annually and involves 5 directors, 3 coordinators, as well as over 40 lecturers, field program supervisors, graduate student researchers, and other staff. Position involves designing, conducting, promoting, and supporting public educational programs within the Outreach and Professional Development arms of the Leadership Development Programs. Under the direction of the 21CSLA Alameda Regional Academy Director, researches and assesses educational needs and interests for targeted public segments, and develops programs accordingly. Application Review Date The First Review Date for this job is: 09/01/2023. Responsibilities Program Development and Facilitation

  • Actively participates in long-range strategic planning for Regional Academy programs.
  • Participates in developing strategic market plans and target audiences.
  • Recommends programmatic objectives and locations.
  • May facilitate Regional Academy program offerings.
  • Plans and schedules programmatic offerings.
  • Assists with the evaluation of regional Academy programs. Program Evaluation and Needs Assessment
    • As a member of a team, participates in the evaluation of prospective program partnerships.
    • Identifies and develops evaluation tools for programs.
    • Participates in regional Needs Assessments of timely topics in the field.
    • Conducts regional Needs Analysis based on collected Needs Assessment and evaluation data. Other Duties
      • Facilitates and supports their own and others special program events.
      • May serve as a work leader.
      • May provide training or mentoring to staff and facilitators.
      • Participates in professional development. Required Qualifications
        • Thorough knowledge of functional area and understanding of how work may impact other areas.
        • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
        • Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
        • Strong skills in short-term planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
        • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
        • Skill in using data collection/analysis software in the completion of work assignments; i.e. Qualtrics.
        • Solid knowledge of commonly used computer application programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Drive/Box, Adobe Reader/Pro.
        • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Preferred Qualifications
          • Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering programs.
          • Thorough knowledge of current public educational programs and trends.
          • Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and develop new programs to meet Regional Academy needs.
          • Knowledge of managing a portfolio of business and management courses at the university or corporate level.
          • Strong organization and project management skills.
          • Continuing education in related field. Salary & Benefits This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly and eligible for full UC Benefits. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
