Job Description:

AirCapture -is -developing on-site -direct air capture (DAC) systems -that -pull -climate-changing CO2 from the atmosphere -and -make it immediately available for industrial and commercial processes. - We -provide -a greener, more cost-effective feedstock to our customers -and -aim -to -make atmospheric carbon dioxide removal at gigaton-scale economically viable -on a greatly accelerated time frame. - The market for materials made with atmospheric carbon is poised to grow dramatically -- come join our efforts to enable this growth! -
The Senior Process Engineer will work on the development of DAC systems and the design of CO2 processing technologies, collaborating with a team of technologists across multiple fields. - In addition, they will be responsible for supporting the conceptualization, design, prototyping and integration of the DAC systems. - This is a technical role that involves assisting the company with technology development and commercialization, identifying necessary resources and supporting the company's technical hiring process. - As a key member of our fast-growing company, the Senior Process Engineer will be eligible for equity-based awards, in addition to a regular salary and full company benefits.
Position Responsibilities

  • Design, simulate and optimize processes for the deployment of large scale Direct Air Capture and related downstream conversion plant(s)
  • Develop high-quality engineering packages to translate design intent into reality, including PFD, heat and mass balance, P&ID, process data sheet, control philosophy. -
  • Process equipment sizing, selection and process data sheet preparation
  • Process control logic development with - safety analysis -
  • Develop cost model and CapEx / OpEx feasibility studies based on FEED analyses -
  • Perform sensitivity analysis and cost optimization modeling
  • Design integrated plant systems for capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and converting it into products and materials
  • Determine equipment sizing and prepare piping and instrumentation diagrams
  • Contribute in -FEED engineering and collaborate with other engineering disciplines, vendors, external EPC contractors and customers
  • Start up and troubleshoot first-of-a-kind production facilities for CO2 capture and conversion
  • Continuous improvement efforts of the company through value analysis, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of engineering processes, procedures and techniques
  • Set up plant operations teams for success by co-authoring procedures and training manuals and working side by side to transfer critical process knowledge
  • Collaborate positively across the organization with technical, business and operations teammates to build production operations
  • Develop and implement manufacturing documentation and other operator instructions
  • Basic understanding of project management and management of technical integrators
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time (domestically and internationally)
    Note: -this -position requires physical activities including climbing stairs or ladders, stooping, crouching to work on equipment, -operating machinery -and lifting and carrying loads of 40 -lbs -or more
    Education & Experience
    • B.S. in Industrial, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field
    • 5+ years experience as a process engineer in a manufacturing environment, preferably involving heavy or light machinery and fluids. - Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of fluids and systems integration
      Preferred Skills & Experiences
      • Background in plant design and complex process development -
      • Process simulation and optimization -
      • ASPEN Plus or related process simulation software -
      • Experience in thermal fluid design, refrigeration and systems engineering
      • Experience in gas separations, liquefaction and compression systems
      • CFD analysis expertise strongly preferred
      • FEED engineering, basic or detailed design and EPC project expertise -
      • Expertise with CO2 processing, including compression, dehumidification, liquefaction and sequestration -
      • HAZOP analysis and implementation
      • Multidisciplinary engineering project management
      • Experience with DOE or DOD funded projects -
