AirCapture is developing on-site direct air capture (DAC) systems that pull climate-changing CO2 from the atmosphere and make it immediately available for industrial and commercial processes. We're starting by addressing the -$30Bn merchant CO2 market in our first commercial phase by providing a greener, more cost-effective feedstock to our customers while simultaneously aiming to integrate our technology at an economically viable, gigaton-scale into what McKinsey identifies as a $6Tn market.

About the Role
The Machine Design Engineer is a mid-senior role, working on the development of DAC systems and the design of CO2 processing technologies, collaborating with a team of technologists across multiple fields. In addition, they will be responsible for supporting the conceptualization, design, prototyping and manufacturing of the DAC systems. This is a technical role that involves assisting the company with technology development and commercialization and identifying necessary resources. Position Responsibilities

  • Create detailed design & analysis of DAC system mechanisms & fluidic systems
  • Ability to quickly identify efficient solutions to mechanical problems
  • Ownership of the various system component SolidWorks CAD models
  • Ability to generate drawing templates & detailed drawings (GD&T experience preferred)
  • Deployment & maintenance of SolidWorks PDM database
  • Proactively communicates and can work with a diverse and multidisciplinary team
  • Project/deadline oriented and organized
    Position Requirements
    • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
    • 5+ years experience as a mechanical or design engineer in related fields
    • Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials and design for manufacturability (sheet metal, die casting, structural steel frames, weldments, etc.)
    • Experience in engineering roles relating to conceptualization, design, testing and commissioning of systems involving process fluids, mechanical motion control and/or process control
    • Expertise with SolidWorks
    • A minimum of 2 years of machine design experience (Pneumatics, bearing systems, etc.)

      Note: this position requires physical activities including climbing stairs or ladders, stooping, crouching to work on equipment, operating machinery and lifting and carrying loads of 40 lbs or more
