Senior Quantum Engineer (Experimentalist) Rigetti Computing is developing cloud-deployed quantum computers to solve humanity's most pressing and valuable problems. As a Senior Quantum Engineer with a focus on device performance and new architectures, you will work on innovative solutions for the next generation of quantum hardware. In your daily work, you will design experiments to test new device layouts and original manipulation protocols, perform measurements and data analysis, and propose new experimental solutions or improve the existing procedures. In this position, you will develop new experimental protocols in addition to developing goal-oriented plans to identify and resolve experimental anomalies. You will work on improving single- and two-qubit gate performance with a focus on developing experiments that improve fidelities, suppress residual interactions, and mitigate non-ideal effects on multi-qubit platforms. What you'll be doing:

• Implement new control techniques to improve single- and two-qubit gates performance
• Suppress or mitigate spurious effects during parallel gate operation and idling
• Implementing and testing error-correcting codes
• Design experiments and benchmarking techniques to validate new devices and protocols
• Analyze data and identify anomalies
• Propose new ideas to improve the performance of the next generation of quantum devices
• Collaborate with our hardware team to define specifications and requirements for control electronics
• Collaborate with our software engineers to maintain and improve software for R&D measurements and for general company useWhat You Bring to the Table:
  • Experience with superconducting quantum devices, time-domain measurements, single- and two-qubit gates
  • Knowledge of error-correcting codes and techniques
  • Comfortable with experimental problem-solving and experimental research work with a focus on product development
  • Ability to focus on defined goals and quickly adapt the plan in view of new data -
  • Knowledge of Python
