Job Description:
What if you could use your superpowers of building breakthrough
product experiences to empower women? To increase confidence and
joy and decrease aloneness?
To end the multi-generational cycle of sexual shame, once and for
all?
Sounds pretty lofty, right?
But the resource we've created measurably and significantly has
exactly those impacts.
About OMGYES.COM:
Our flagship product is called OMGYES.com. We conduct research with
tens of thousands of women, ages 18-95, and distill their wisdom
about sex into a web experience. OMGYES gives people clarity about
what they like and makes them realize how normal it all is.
And this has wellness benefits far outside of the bedroom.
When we feel that some of what we want is dirty or broken or
shameful, it's like we're constantly holding a beach-ball under the
surface of a pool. It puts us off-balance. But when we realize what
we want is normal, and good, and worth pursuing, we're more likely
to trust and advocate for what we want. In our social lives, in
work or school, in our family lives. And this shift has numerous
other wellness effects our scientists are currently studying.
It's why the Australian government is purchasing OMGYES as part of
a pilot wellness program. It's why OMGYES has grown to have over
750K paid users in 12 languages. It's why Psychology Today called
OMGYES, "warm, wise, tasteful and fun," The Times of London called
it, "nothing less than the next wave of an unfinished sexual
revolution" and Emma Watson told Gloria Steinem on stage, "I wish
it had been around longer."
THE ROLE
We're looking for a highly experienced design leader to join our
company leadership team as Product Design Director.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Partner closely with others on the leadership team to clearly
define and codify our visual identity system, user experience, user
interface design and brand.
Contribute to strategic foundation and oversee creative expression
on multiple simultaneous projects, ensuring all deliverables are
brand-aligned, high quality and meeting timelines.
This is a player/coach role. Contribute directly to design as well
as directing others, through all phases from strategy and research
to launch and ongoing optimization.
Incorporate user research as a consistent touchstone in the product
design process and comms development process.
Contribute to organization and process-design to develop systems
and pipelines that will allow us to evolve our product using
research insights at scale.
Develop design talent and build a thriving culture where designers
grow in their careers and feel a strong sense of inclusion and
belonging.
Partner closely with others on the leadership team to build the
product roadmap, both short term and long-term.
WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF
You're a builder. The idea of being able to run your own team and
define how it works without bureaucracy gets your imagination
rolling
You work smarter, not harder or longer. You know from experience
that your team is most productive when they feel rested, trusted
and valued
You want to have impact. You'd feel energized getting messages from
users around the world saying your product made them realize
they're not alone, gave them new confidence, or saved their
marriage
You believe strangers have valuable discoveries. So reading through
thousands of women's discoveries about a taboo part of life sounds
like a great time
You love to break down complex problems , cutting to the core of
them, identifying what needs to be done, and making it happen
through communication, delegation, and ingenuity
You're talented but humble. And while you have lots of terrific
ideas, you also recognize how important it is for the people you
manage to have ideas that get recognized.
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years of experience as a product designer on B2C web/app or
content experience that reached mass audiences.
A player-coach approach. You like to get in and make designs, not
just brief others and make decks. (You'll hire one IC Designer and
partner to hire one User Researcher to begin).
Experience solving complex UX problems and ability to synthesize
marketplace realities and user behaviors into strong product
strategy.
Experience leading and delegating to teams where ICs feel supported
and motivated and there's a healthy system of feedback and
accountability.
Portfolio of elegant, minimal user-insight-driven design.
This position offers a competitive salary, a healthy work / life
balance, and a great benefits package, including top-of-the-line
health, dental, vision, life and gym.
We are all remote during Covid-19 and look forward to eventually
returning in-person to our office in Berkeley, California. If
there's a great fit, we're open to flexible work from home, fully
remote work with occasional travel to work at the office alongside
the team, and/or relocation assistance.
