Job Description Title: HR Generalist Pay Rate: $38/hr Location: Berkeley, CA 94720 Job Summary: The HR Division Partner is responsible for managing and coordinating day-to-day HR activities on behalf of the customer division(s). Work is conducted under the guidance of the Sr. HR Division Partner, HR Manager and in coordination other HR team members across the HR department. Duties: Provide support and coordinate the tactical aspects relating to general HR processes and policies, including: performance reviews (annual and probationary), staffing, position descriptions, scientific mid-term reviews and promotion cases, employment changes, leaves, terminations, employee and non-employee appointment types. Ensure the timely coordination of HR activities and applicable timelines. Make sure forms and written business justifications are accurate and complete before submitting for review/approval. Produce appropriate communications, documentation and letters related to employee actions and changes. Communicate routine and non-routine HR activities with broad customer groups to ensure they are aware of pending HR activities, changes and/or updates. Escalate complex issues to the Sr. HR Division Partner. Assist with salary actions, promotions, and equity adjustments under the guidance of the Sr. HR Division Partner. This includes providing salary analysis to the Sr. HR Division Partner for salary actions, and providing technical support in developing salary management spreadsheets in support of the annual salary review process. Oversee the coordination and rollout of awards programs including nomination justifications. Provide guidance and updates regarding award programs. Work in close collaboration with HR colleagues within the team and across the HR department on a range of activities, including: investigations, process improvements, implementation of new/re-engineered programs, focus groups, etc. Assist the Sr. HR Division Partner with Reduction in Force activities including coordination of activities with the customers, Payroll and other HR staff. Serve as a liaison between the HR team, customers and the International Researchers & Scholar's Office on employment visas and green cards. Provide ad-hoc reports as determined by customer needs. Manage data integrity and work with the HR Assistant to ensure data entry and changes are accurately reflected in HRIS. Conduct analysis and create custom presentations and summary reports for the Sr. HRDP, or HR Field Manager. Coordinate faculty appointments between the University of California and Berkeley Lab. Ensure faculty salary increases and/or pay status are processed accordingly. May be responsible for coordinating special fellowship and summer student programs. Partner with the Berkeley Lab benefits team and/or UC retirement center to assist employees with resolving issues. Work in support of the Lab and division's goals related to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts Handle customer drop-ins and respond to e-mail and phone requests and questions in a timely manner Requirements: achelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field and 3-5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
