Lawrence Berkeley National Lab s (LBNL) Engineering Division has
an opening for an ALS Electronics Engineering Technical Supervisor
to join the team.
What You Will Do:
Plan, schedule and, organize all electronic testing and maintenance
activities for the ALS. Complete and track all administrative
support requirements of the Advanced Light Source Electronics Test
and Maintenance Shop.
Oversee budget, equipment, and property for assigned areas of
responsibility. Administer Lab policies and procedures, all safety
requirements, and personnel actions of subordinates.
Oversee all technical, administrative, and leadership operations of
Participate in various administrative activities such as budget
planning and control; personnel matters, including hiring, training
and development, job performance standards, job performance
reviews, salary administration, promotions, disciplinary actions,
general employee relations matters; and other general
administrative activities relating to the group.
Serve on various department, division, and Lab-wide committees as
Exercise strategic forward planning to fully meet the scientific
and safety goals of the Laboratory.
Supervise, manage, and direct activities and staff (e.g.
technicians and associates) assigned to provide technical support
for electronics engineering objectives.
Recommend technical and safety training for assigned staff.
Ensure appropriate technical and safety standards are practiced by
Recommend department standards and practices. Select, develop, and
evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation.
Formulate and establish short and long-range goals that govern
overall assigned technical operation and personnel.
What is Required:
Two or more years of experience as a technical lead or supervisor
in research and development environment.
Extensive experience working in the field of electronic
Advanced supervisory and administrative capabilities in areas
relevant to sphere or responsibility.
Technical and administrative expertise in hazardous material
handling and storage, hazardous waste disposal, quality assurance,
and safety-related work practices associated with the type of work
performed by the group.
Knowledge of LBNL, U.S. Department of Energy, State of California,
and other regulatory agency orders, regulations, and policies,
regarding environment, safety and health.
Excellent communication skills with demonstrated ability to
interact effectively with scientists and engineers in defining
goals and contributing to their realization.
Bachelor s Degree in mechanical technology or related field.
Personal computer expertise, including word processors,
spreadsheets and databases.
