The primary responsibilities of this role, Developer Scientist Isolation and Purification, are to:

* Demonstrate an in-depth broad scientific and operational knowledge for one functional development area and apply this to the development process; * Design independently, and conduct process development experiments, assays, or procedures of considerable complexity with considerable discretion as to work details, requiring complicated scientific analysis, operational planning and execution; * Apply knowledge of GMP (Good manufacturing practice) requirements to practice in own functional area; * Analyze and interpret results, systems or procedures; * Troubleshoot failed experiments, assays or procedures, and make changes as appropriate; * Exercise sound technical judgment to solve a wide range of scientific problems; * Overcome obstacles and develop experimental approaches; * Recommend new and innovative solutions to problems by utilizing high degree of scientific creativity, independent thought and proficiency; * Assist, counsel and coordinate project or departmental activities and ensure the flow of communications and/or interim supervisory functions; * Interpret and effectively communicate complex scientific findings in one-on-one discussions, with the department, and functional meetings; * Foster team-based approach to research; * Keep abreast of current and new science and technological developments regarding literature/publication within field of specialty and exploit them to continuously improve functional area capabilities; * Provide first-authored, complete, and with quality, internal and external reports on technical achievements; * Contribute to scientific literature and conferences; * Participate in the development of patent applications; * Ensure that laboratory notebooks are consistently updated, audited and well maintained.

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science with eight years of relevant experience or Master of Science with six years of relevant experience or Ph.D. without previous experience; * Demonstrated ability to independently design, execute, analyze, and interpret experiments, systems, methods development, validation, scaleup or operations; * Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot problems requiring original thought; * Demonstrated knowledge in field of expertise (i.e.unit operation, of literature, new developments, technologies and regulations); * Understand how GMP requirements are applied to practice from development to clinical manufacturing; * Ability to exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining results; * Ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments; * Ability to solve complex and diverse scientific problems requiring original thinking and deductive reasoning; * Ability to apply scientific principles to the design and interpretation of scientific experiments; * Demonstrated success for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent though; * Previous experience in a leadership role in a team setting; * Demonstrated ability to present ongoing scientific/technical work at internal/departmental seminars; * Excellent verbal and written communication skills including writing of scientific and technical reports and presentations; * Ability to learn and apply one or two new business systems and tools such as SAP; * Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of Software (Word, Excel) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
