Position The Sport Supervisor will assist the Student Lead, Graduate Intern, and the Director in coordination of the Intramural Sports Program, as well as helping the Director monitor Officials' evaluations The primary responsibility of the Sport Supervisor will be to provide special attention to their respective sport while also contributing to the larger success of IM sports as a whole. Duties include (but are not limited to): scheduling of Officials, rescheduling Intramural Sports contests, scheduling of playoffs, planning and leading the Hiring and Advanced training Clinics for your sport(s), evaluating Sport Programs, addressing on-the-court misconduct of athletes, implementing necessary changes to programs, distribution of referee uniforms, maintaining weekly communication with the officiating staff, and working a minimum number of office hours. Depending on the state of public health, this job includes up to the following tasks: Sitting in on Program Assistant's interviews of site supervisor candidates. Hosting at least 8 office hours per week on the second floor of the RSF. Coordinating a schedule, so the IM office always has one person in the IM office between the hours of 9am and 4 pm on each weekday. Running the semester-starting all-staff meeting. Tracking referee jerseys, site supervisor jerseys, and miscellaneous sporting equipment. Tracking CPR certifications of all employees. Responsibilities include assisting in the hiring process of new employees throughout the semester, inputting employee hours into CalTime biweekly, and addressing any payroll related concerns or issues. Responsibilities include training site supervisors, scheduling all site supervisors to their weekly shifts, and helping run a monthly site supervisor meeting along with the Graduate Intern. The Program Assistant is also responsible for evaluating site supervisors and updating them on their performances throughout the semester. It is the Program Assistant's duty, along with the guidance of the Graduate Intern, to update site supervisors with changing protocol and overall ensuring that the site supervisors are provided with enough resources to be successful. The Program Assistant is encouraged to actively seek ways to improve the Program. Then take those photos, think of a caption, and post it to Twitter/Facebook/Instagram, using IM specific hashtags. Additionally, you will asked to make posts on stories or posts addressing competitions IMs are promoting or IM updates such as cancelled games. Remote: Remote work consists of moderating and hosting Cal IM virtual events such as twitch streams, for inappropriate language, hosting (or cohosting) the streams during IM Trivia and occasionally writing the trivia questions for them. Job duties also include moderating virtual Esports tournaments via Discord and posting to social media feeds as necessary. You will be responsible for officiating Intramural Sports contests. Ensure each Intramural Sports contest is delivered in a safe and enjoyable manner. Assist in preparing Intramural Sports sites for scheduled activities. Responsible for the cleanliness of equipment. Check-in/out appropriate game-related equipment. Ensure participants observe Program rules and regulations regarding risk management, safety, sportsmanship, and policies and procedures. Maintain a positive and patient attitude at all times. Attend all Intramural Sports All-Staff Meetings and appropriate training clinics. Qualifications Positions are open to UC Berkeley students only. Interested students need to attend training clinics at the beginning of each semester. Contact the Intramural Sports office for clinic dates and times: Certifications New Officials hired must become CPR/AED/First Aid certified through the American Red Cross and trained in blood-borne pathogens by November 1 or April 1 of their hire semester to remain on staff. All continuing and returning Officials must keep CPR/First Aid certifications and blood-borne pathogen training current to continue being scheduled. American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED certification cannot be completed online. Work Schedule Part-time: 5-19.5 hours per week, $16.07 per hour. Site Supervisors are the on-site supervisors for all of our Intramural Sports events. They will assist the Intramural Sports program in supervising and supporting Referees and participants. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Oversight of outdoor/indoor sports, supervision of Referees, administration of first aid, player check-in, problem-solving to make important on-site decisions, documentation of incidents/accidents, and ensuring that we are delivering the best possible experience for our participants. Site Supervisors will be an integral part of the execution of the Intramural Sports programs. The Site Supervisor position is a leadership role and will serve as a role model for referees and participants.
