Senior Associate Staff Development Scientist


The primary responsibilities of this role, Senior Associate Staff Development Scientist, are to:

  • Perform Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) analytical testing of monoclonal antibodies, gene therapy and cell therapy products;
  • Perform testing using ELISA, cell based assay, HPLC, capillary electrophoresis, flow cytometry and other routine Quality Control (QC) techniques to support stability studies and Phase I to Phase III Clinical product development;
  • Perform investigations and provide technical scientific support for at least one of the Analytical Development QC functional areas, ELISA, gel separation methods and/or HPLC system;
  • Execute method validations and transfers;
  • Perform Discrepancy Management investigations, writes/reviews laboratory investigation reports and implement corrective and preventative actions;
  • Follow relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) accurately, perform all activities in accordance with cGMP requirements and reports abnormalities;
  • Keep accurate documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy per cGMPs;
  • Compile, enter, and review data into LIMS or other databases or validated Excel spreadsheets;
  • Evaluate data, interpret trends, and write control chart reports;
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot analytical instruments;
  • Interact in an environment with many outside departments such as Quality Control, Quality Assurance (QA), Validation, Engineering, Maintenance, and Safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with at least six years of relevant experience in biopharma, healthcare or manufacturing environment OR Master of Science in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field with at least four years of relevant experience in biopharma, healthcare or manufacturing environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of analytical methods, such as Bioassays, ELISAs, gel separation, Reverse phase and size exclusion HPLC methods, flow cytometry, HPLC trouble shooting as well as other analytical techniques;
  • Hands on experience with laboratory automation, LIMS and related HPLC software (e.g. Empower) or SoftMax pro, absorbance plate readers or other analytical instruments;
  • Strong technical writing skills for reports and SOPs;
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot problems with minimal input;
  • Ability to support and prioritize many diverse activities simultaneously while meeting stability testing time requirements and product release commitments;
  • Strong computer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and communication skills;
  • Flexibility and good adaptability to changing business requirements in a dynamic corporate environment;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a GMP laboratory and execution of analytical method validation.
