Front Desk Supervisor
Crowden Music Center seeks two Front Desk Supervisors to begin in November 2021.

The two front desk supervisors work together to ensure the building is staffed on evenings and weekends. Shifts are either weekdays 6:00-10:00pm or weekends (within the hours of 7:30am-7:00pm). Each position includes two (3.5-5.5 hrs) scheduled shifts and two on-call shifts, for a total of around 15-18 hrs per week.


The Crowden Music Center in Berkeley is a non-profit organization that combines music and education to nurture, develop, and inspire students of all ages. Founded in 1983 by Scottish violinist Anne Crowden, today Crowden serves an annual audience of 12,000 with a rich array of workshops, events, and concerts. Each year, more than 1,400 music students of all ages and levels of ability participate in Crowdens private lessons, music classes, ensembles, and summer programs. Crowdens flagship program is The Crowden School, the first of its kind in the nation: a coeducational day school for grades three through eight that provides a distinguished education with chamber music at the core. In addition, Crowden is an active center for music rehearsals, performances, and recitals for students and professional musicians. It plays an important role in music education in the greater San Francisco Bay Area.


Reporting to the Operations and Database Manager, the Front Desk Supervisors work as a team to manage a front desk team of 2-3 additional employees who work evening and weekend hours. The Front Desk Supervisors have the same responsibility as front desk attendants, but is also hire/train new employees, schedules shifts, troubleshoots scheduling issues, and managing the workflow of the front desk team.


Supervise the building; lock up at closing time or open in the morning

Handle students, parents, and guests requests

Assist with set-up and break-down for concerts and events

Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls

Work with the other front desk supervisor to determine a monthly front desk schedule

Hire and train new front desk employees

Supervise the workflow of 2-3 reporting employees

Cover and troubleshoot scheduling conflicts, including own

Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team


Helpful attitude and good humor

Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize workload

Proven initiative and ability to demonstrate results

Ability to exercise independent judgment and self-motivation under minimum supervision

Must be proficient in Google Suites, Word, and Excel

Positive experience working with students and parent preferred
