Our vision is to challenge the norms of what people with learning differences can achieve.BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary and outstanding benefits including: Healthcare, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, Short-term/Long-term Disability, 401(k) Retirement Plan with a company match, paid time off (15 vacation days, 3 personal days, plus paid sick leave), 12 observed holidays, Fitness/Wellness Reimbursement, Tuition ReimbursementPosition OverviewThe Life Skills & Wellness Coordinator works with students in helping them to become well-rounded, informed citizens who can lead independent, self-sufficient lives, while navigate the community and observing their own well-being.ObjectivesEngage students in productively exploring and connecting within the communityEnsure a high level of health and safety within one's living environment and the communityBuild student independent living skills competencies and routines to develop the ability for students to live independently after CIPStandard ActivitiesOversees all students in their residential settings providing a safe environment for learning skills necessary for independencePossesses detailed knowledge of emergency and safety procedures and conducts regular student and staff trainings on related topics, including fire drillsTeaches students all aspects involved in apartment cleanliness and maintenanceConducts grocery shopping with student as well as individual or group cooking instruction and kitchen clean upConducts appropriate Executive Functioning appointments with students based on their needs and coordinates with staff accordinglyCoordinates transportation for students on travel daysCollaborates with Social Skills in planning weekend activitiesConducts roommate meetings in order to facilitate appropriate communication in the student's residencesAttends student forum weekly, reviews and finalizes weekend activities with the social skills coordinator for the following weekendUses appropriate judgment to handle student issues and when necessary uses de-escalation techniques and other strategiesArranges and/or provides Life Skills staffing including holidays and other days when departmental staff is not present at the centerCommunicates with staff across all departments regarding student's Life Skills goals and objectives in order to facilitate student programmingReviews and collaborates on input from other direct support functions and relays this information to Life Skills staff in order to carry out appropriate evening support plansAssists with minor residential maintenance issuesOther duties as requiredCompetenciesCommunication - communicates well both verbally and in writing, has superior empathic listening skills, can deliver quality presentationsCustomer service - works well with CIP families and other "customers"; promotes a positive image of CIP; strives to resolve issues raised by customers in a timely manner, keeping them updated throughoutInitiative - takes action, seeks new opportunities, strives to see projects to completionJob-specific knowledge - has domain expertise and understands facets of young adults with ASD in residential setting; keeps job knowledge currentOrganization skills - maintains information organized and accessible, either digitally or materially; efficiently manages time and multiple projectsRequired Education / ExperienceBachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related fieldProficient with office utility computer software programs and a quick learner in new technologiesPreferred Education / ExperienceExperience in the field of autism and/or learning disabilities especially in a residential settingTravelMinimal travel outside of local area
