  • Tuition ReimbursementPosition Overview The Social Skills Coordinator instills inspiration, fosters confidence, and supports students toward building valuable and meaningful relationships. Objectives
    • To assist students in developing effective social communication skills.
    • To encourage student access to, exploration of, and engagement in the community.
    • To develop student competency in navigating and developing relationships.Standard Activities
      • Instructs social skills curriculum in individual and group sessions, including aspects of social communication, awareness, behavior, and confidence.
      • Supports instruction in program areas of Reframing, PEERS, and Social Mentoring.
      • Develops relationships with local colleges for the purposes of recruiting a pool of college interns to interact with CIP students as social mentors.
      • Assesses student social skills strengths and challenges and assists in student goal setting.
      • Supervises and trains Social Skills department staff and performs regular one-on-ones and evaluations.
      • Collaborates on social thinking projects across departments to ensure Social Thinking is an integral part of the student's holistic plan.
      • Produces individual social thinking session notes, monthly group notes, progress reports.
      • Develops and plans weekend activities in collaboration with life skills for all students to participate in and practice social skills.
      • Leads and oversees the Student Council.
      • Participates in department head and team review meetings and contributes to the overall student's program plan.
      • Other duties as assigned.Required Education / Experience
        • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field, Master's preferred
        • 2+ years related experience or trainingPreferred Education / Experience
          • Advanced education or training in educational approaches, methods, and supports for persons with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other learning differences
          • Experience in the field of autism and/or learning disabilitiesTravel
            • Minimal travel outside of the local area
