Job Description:

AirCapture is a well funded and rapidly growing startup that is pulling greenhouse gasses from the air and generating value in a new way. Key to our growth is excellent in-house manufacturing and prototyping capability. To do this, we have committed to building a highly capable 9,000 square foot shop at our headquarters in Berkeley, CA where we can meet the manufacturing challenges encountered as we pursue our mission to remove Gigatons-per-year of CO2 from the air, within the next decade. We are looking to hire a Fabricator that will report directly to the Senior Fabricator . This role will work closely with the Senior Fabricator to build, maintain, and use our highly capable shop to manufacture our CO2-extraction apparatus. The candidate we are looking for is comfortable working with their hands, well-spoken, curious, kind, organized, and able to work closely with the senior fabrication engineer and others on our small team to build our designs quickly, and help create and maintain a wonderful shop to work in. Our shop is a spacious and beautiful well lit warehouse in West Berkeley. Of prime importance to this role is:

  • Interest in and passion for building things, and some attendant skill with a desire to learn more
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently to achieve clearly stated goals
  • Ability to work from drawings, engineering documents, or verbal instructions Established competence, or a strong desire to learn, several or all of the below abilities is helpful:
    • Mechanical engineering or Industrial design
    • MIG or TIG welding
    • Manual mill and lathe metalwork
    • 3d printing
    • CNC machining - programming, and/or operating CNC mills
    • Tube bending
    • Soldering and assembly of electrical connectors and cables
    • Working with microcontrollers and basic electronics
    • Forklift driving Note: this position requires physical activities including climbing stairs or ladders, stooping, crouching to work on equipment, operating machinery and lifting and carrying loads of 40 lbs or more. More on AirCapture: AirCapture is developing on-site direct air capture (DAC) systems that addresses the $30B merchant CO2 market by pulling climate-changing CO 2 from the atmosphere and making it immediately available for industrial and commercial processes.
